Like a lot of folks, David "Raptor" Benefield started out playing casually with friends. However, once he realized that poker was more than just a hobby for him, he devoted himself to studying and professionally developing his game. As a result, he rapidly ascended through the ranks, developing an impressive poker résumé along the way. Since that time, David has become one of the most respected young players in the poker community today.
David made his first score on the live tournament scene at the 2007 WSOP, cashing in the $1.5K Six-Handed No-Limit Hold ‘em event. The following year, David turned in even more impressive results. During the 2008 WSOP, he demonstrated the diversity of his talent when he cashed in both a No-Limit Hold ‘em and a Pot-Limit Omaha event. Only days later, David made his biggest live tournament score to date when he went deep in the Main Event and earned more than $77K.
Away from the felt, David’s very interested in health and fitness. Besides regular workouts, he also practices yoga and studies Jiu Jitsu. In addition to his keen bankroll management skills in the poker setting, David is also involved in real estate investing. Rounding out his time away from the tables, he devotes a great deal of time to intense study of the game.
